What do you think of the homework I’m a Freshman.?

I have 60 math problems I must show my work. I have a English Test and I have to get 20 definitions off the internet. General Business test. study for Spanish test. study for 2 Global Studies tests. I have a 100 point science test with chapter review where I have 10 questions and have to write a paragraph for each! and keep in mind this is a church night!

Depends on what level math, but it seems like a lot. My son has about 5+ hours of homework a night (plus weekends), and he’s a top student, fast compared to most. He attends an extremely rigorous private school. Other good, but less rigorous private schools have 3+ hours of homework a night. Public schools can vary greatly on the amount of homework, but often it is less than private school.

It sounds like you have at least 3 hours of homework, more depending on the kind of math and science questions, or how long you’ve already studied for your tests. (Ignore the 90 minutes, that’s baloney.) Don’t leave your toughest homework for last, you’ll be too tired. Stand up and walk around every half-hour to hour, to keep your circulation and brain going. Have a short snack, text or facebook break after 1.5 hours or so, but during homework and study time, keep your cell phone away from you and don’t go on facebook, don’t distract yourself. Take good notes in class, and type them up at home, or type up notes from your text books, that helps reinforce the knowledge into your brain.

Unfortunately, that’s the way high school is now, tons of homework, especially if you’re planning on attending a good college. It seems tough to reconcile at your age, but doing your homework and doing good grades will pay off later on. Just hang in there. It’s really hard when a kid has 2 – 3 hours of arts rehearsal or sports practice, or a game or performance, or community service and clubs. My son is very busy, but the headmaster says that being busy keeps them out of trouble, and it really seems to work. My son loves his school, he just works on really managing his time, and making sure to make the most of free time.

Good luck!
