Steps for starting a business?

I need, in the clearest possible way, someone to tell me steps required in starting a business.

I searched the internet and was quickly overwhelmed. I know I need stuff such as a business license, DBA name, Tax ID Number (FEIN), LLC Agreement, etc…

Can someone give me a web page that describes how to start a business from scratch, what the tax repercussions are, how to start health care benefits, etc.

I know this is a heavily weighted question, but I appreciate any response. My friend and I are starting a business together in the film industry and we want to rent out equipment we have purchased to other filmmakers.

Look, the SBA and SCORE are your best places. Go to your state’s website and type in Start a business. They will have a step by step guide for your specific state. It is easy, there will be a number you can call and talk to someone in person. Their job is to make sure you get off on the right foot and it’s free.

For tax info, go and talk to a CPA in your area. I would find one that has experience in the Film Industry. They will be able to tell you specific information you will need to know.

Also, check with your state’s Film Commission, there maybe grants (free money) that can fund your start up.
